I love the idea of having knowledge available in physical form. The only downside I can see, especially with the older books, are old techniques. Defensive and competitive shooting has evolved so much. It's incredibly important to not train yourself on outmoded shooting tactics or techniques that may have improved

I've been a big fan of the sometimes controversial, Massad Ayoob, since I was in college. I love his books, Combat Handgunnery. Some of the techniques are out of date, but there is some great info as long as you can separate the wheat from the chaff.

The other book that every gun owner should have is the Bluebook of Gun Values. The real value of this book isn't in the valuation of firearms, but knowing all of the details of every model produced, how they came from the factory, variants that command a premium, how to spot re-works, how to properly describe a firearms condition (which almost no one does correctly in ads on here), and lots of other incredibly valuable information for the gun owner.

Could not agree more.

Massad's expositions on Self-Defense law changed my entire mindset and worldview.

Massad and Ken Hackathorn may be a little outdated at times but they quite literally wrote some of the books on pistolcraft. I try to extract as many pearls of wisdom as I can. While occasionally having to dismiss some antiquated TTP's.
