I was reading a book by a guy who seems to know a good bit about firearms when the part below simply jarred my brain. I read it again. Still didn't look right. Pulled up a calculator on the laptop and figured 400 yards was 1,200 feet PER MINUTE so divide by 60 = 20 feet per second. Is my math wrong or is this the slowest 9mm ammo in the world?! Heck, I might be able to jump out of the way (like the Matrix) if someone was shooting at me with those pokey rounds.

Further evidence that a writer cannot overestimate the value of a good proofreader.

Since everybody that was interested has apparently posted or read, the book was "Denied Access" by Don Bentley (former Apache helicopter pilot and former SWAT member), the latest of the Vince Flynn series. I'm guessing somebody changed things around while editing - somebody that doesn't have a clue about handgun ammo and the velocity it normally obtains from a handgun.

Mitch Rapps bullets only go as fast as he wants them to.

Once upon a time (back in high school and college), I could move at 1200 ft/sec

But as a much older man, I now move at roughly 1200 ft/min 😊

Around 10 years ago I shot a 1911 at a water bottle maybe 5 yards away and I actually saw the projectile bounce off the water bottle.

Never ordered from Atlanta Arms again due to random undercharged ammo.
That's some of the dirtiest crap I've ever shot.
