SVT-40 what’s it worth?

I was given this gun a few years ago from my grandad.
I don’t much about it. My Russian neighbors said it’s worth some money? Offered me 2500 for it

I’d like to get more info on it though

Has a safety notch on one side

If they offered you 2500 for it, go immediately back to them and sell it to them. That's the going rate. Finding someone to pay it, however, can be challenging. If it's not sentimental to you, of course.

It's a Russian WWII rifle, chambered in 7.62x54R. Kind of like a Russian Garand...kind of. Minus the bloc clip.
 
Can’t tell a lot from the pics other than she’s a refurb and pretty crusty. I agree about the 1900-2500 if you clean her up, the numbers match and everything works. Parts are a little scarce. They are fun to shoot
 
Might want to go ahead and rub it down with some gun lube to slow down the rust and freckling going on.

Makes me ill to see an old warhorse left to rust to death through neglect.
