The Laugo Alien has some competition

This is incredible. The technology on it is absolutely outside-the-box thinking and a game-changer for the firearms industry. I didn’t catch the MSRP from the video; what did he say it is?

The biggest thing, of course, will be how does it shoot?

4200 euro for the base. 5200 euro for the extra electro-gimmicks.

Cheaper than the Alien..but not cheap.

What we need is for KelTec to make something like this?

Why?

So Ruger or S&W can make something "new" (but much more polished) based on it and claim it as their own...
I like the base model design. Add a threaded barrel or compensated model, and if reviews are good, I'd likely get one. They lost me with the electronic crap though.

Not seeing where I brought KelTec into the discussion.

Springfield Armory.

They can engrave "The Control Panel" around the bezel to the LCD display, and "The Power Recepticle" around the battery holder.

For my fellow ODTers who don't know currency rates (like me): $4408 roughly for the base, $5458 roughly for the electronic model.

It's right in the price realm of an Alien...yikes. I mean, it is COOL, but if I were this guy, I would sell the technology to the highest bidder(s) because there are very few people who can afford this. Heck, I'm planning to buy a Platypus one day, but even $2,000 for a gun (albeit, a nice 2011) is still not cheap.

I like this and the Alien, but there's no reason they should cost as much as they do.
I think you hit the nail on the head. I quoted ReservoirDawg10's post and said,

I think there are a few firearms manufacturers who do a great job of affordability and functionality, but when it gets above $2,000 for a handgun or AR-15, it can become a matter of splitting hairs and, IMO, one's time in crafting a fantastic gun with specified modifications versus the parts which they use is where the hairs are split.

For example, I mentioned purchasing a Platypus one day. If I was able, I would buy a (used) Nighthawk before a brand new Platypus. Why? Because I believe Nighthawks are well worth it for the quality, but I do love the customization available for the Platypus and I don't believe that is available with Nighthawk (at least on the granular level offered on the website).
