What do you guys do? I know so far I have went to the unemployment office but what else is there. I am the ONLY bread winner in my family and have got to do something. I do believe I was done wrong and have an appointment with the EEOC come Monday but still, what are you guys doing for money. Do I neede to check into cashing out my 401 K or what, It has been 11 years and right now I am not sure which way is up. ANY help or advice would be GREAT!!! Thanks guys!!

I know the work opportunities are really scarce right now, but keep at it man, spend every day looking for work and don't be afraid to start in a different field. I know quite a few people that took losing their job as an opportunity to change careers and couldn't be happier now.

Check this out, it is an awesome documentary on the subject

Didn't you do security at your previous job? I know several larger companies, like Southwire and Tanner Hospital in Carrollton have a full time staff. Also there's a company called the Pollard agency that handles security for several companies, maybe Southwire. Their office is just across the state line, near Treat Mountain area. If I hear of anything, or see anything in my ramblin, I'll shoot you a PM. Good Luck with everything T, Chuckdog.

i lost my job 17 months ago my company closed down , i just started working for a temp service friday making $3.50 an hour less than what i did before, i had a office job now i work in a factory. just keep looking.

I lost my job on Feb. 3 2009. Luckily for me, my wife has a very good job. I have gone back to college to get a mathematics education degree and hopefully when I finish I can find a job somewhere. It is very tough out there and the unemployment check doesn't scratch the surface for most family's. I know it's hard, but keep a positive attitude and good luck.

I am currently working fast food. Cut my pay in half... well more than half. It pays the bills.. but thats about it.
Luckly everything I have is paid off and the rent isnt too bad. Or I'd be screwed.

Get ready for some major changes in your life and lifestyle. Squeeze every penny long and hard before letting it go, also go out of your way in dealing with your immediate family ( they're in this too). Don't wait to sign up for any and all programs available to you, there's many. Do "everything" possible to not touch the 401 k other than sifting it to a local back right now as soon as possible( company could lose it, the banks insured ). Good luck

Man its tough when you lose a gig like that. I was at a company for almost ten years then BOOM i was gone. All in the same year i lost my job, a child and got divorced. I was as crazy as a **** house rat for a while but i made it through by the Grace of God and family. Today things are pretty good but with the experience of that situation it gave me a "new pair of glasses" on life and I am the wiser for it. As far as the financial situation, you use your reserves (401k..ect) if you need them and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
