this is old but I found it very interesting. Documentary talks about "Ghost Guns". How it is made and used in America. I find it odd that they would buy out of country when it's legal to make your own gun in your house. That's if you got the skills!

I'm glad you posted this. I watched it the other day and felt that it was pretty badly embellished. I didn't buy the thing about the Filipino family making guns from scratch. They showed them roughly filing on metal, then they showed a gun complete with engraved information and serial number. BS. The whole thing about guns with a tarnished record was BS, too. How would any buyer know that a gun was used in a crime or not? They claimed that they were worth much less because they could be traced to a crime. Those sellers wouldn't care and wouldn't tell buyers they were "dirty." They were trying to make it out that there is some HUGE underground illegal underground gun trade that doesn't exist (at least not as they're showing it.)

I agree. How does one legal bought gun be less than a clone gun? Either way, if the weapon is found, it can be linked to the crime. However, the legal bought gun would be traced back to the buyer but criminals don't care as long as it's not their name. You never know tho, a lot of people don't know gun laws and think it's illegal for this and that, so they go to an extend to buy it elsewhere or hire someone from another country to make it. I can see how getting caught with a "ghost" gun would be less punishing if it doesn't flag as stolen but if you think about it, the Feds will figure out that the clone gun doesn't even exist so therefor they will try to pound on some other heavy charges. I love how the video brought up "gun shows" is the place for criminals to buy bulk and heavy duty guns without background check but the video never went into it farther. True there are some unlicensed sellers at gun shows but a gun show doesn't have to happen for unlicensed sellers to sell. I don't know if many unlicensed sellers even sell at gun shows anymore, it's mostly FFL now.

Yeah, the gun show bit was pretty bad, too. They showed everyone going in, menacingly. I think they said buyers at gun shows can provide up to 30 guns for illegal gun trade. Who the F buys 30 guns at a gun show?!? Why the hell would they pay top dollar there, only to barely break even reselling them on the street?

Thanks. Now I'm getting all riled up just thinking about that show again!

There are several ODT members that have made their own "ghost guns", including me.

It's not too hard to finish an 80% AR15 lower with the right tools, but it is probably beyond the skills and know-how of your average street thug.

It's also not nearly as cheap as buying a factory made gun from one of their homies.

I expected the show to talk about the 80% ARs, but I don't even think they were mentioned.

Honestly. Everyone on this forum would know how to make a legal gun untraceable. well not untraceable but forensics won't beable to link the bullet or casing to the gun. It's the uneducated gangsters and newbs that wouldn't know how to do it besides getting rid of the gun in a lake somewhere, which is very known thing a criminal does after they committed a crime with the gun.

They show these guys selling "burner" guns super cheap, because they can be linked to other crimes through ballistics.

I guess none of these geniuses has figured out how to put a replacement barrel and firing pin in a 1911 yet.
