I seem to be at a loss here. The WMAs close to my area (Barrow County) are all quota based for deer hunting and Ive long missed the deadline for this. Can any suggest a WMA within an hour and a half driver from this area that is open to deer hunt without a quota requirement to hunt there?

Any part of the National Forest that is not on a WMA is open to hunting during the regular season with basically state rules. One exception is there is a December closed season for big game. Typically after the first weekend of December until Dec 26th. Check the Ga. regs under Federal lands for the details.

The Northern most part of Oconee National Forest is a little ways south of Athens and is also Redlands WMA. Redlands is open most of the state season and only requires a one time sign in for the whole season. At least that was how it was a few years ago. I hunted Redlands a lot before I moved closer to Atlanta. Tons of deer and turkey. Lots of small game, too.
