I'm wanting to squirrel hunt this year. I haven't done it in years. When are the parasites gone?

We used to say after first frost but I haven't squirrel hunted in 40 years.

You can hunt them now, the wolves are only in their skin and won’t affect the meat.

Wait till after the first frost. You can usually look at them and tell if they have wolves on them. They'll look like knots under their skin.

They don`t usually get the sores until early-mid september. They go away after it gets cold. They are usually gone by first frost.

I’ve killed and eaten my share of them, wolves or not.
