Ok. I've been thinking about the Aurora shooting, and have gone through the scenario in my head quite a few times. How many of you CC folks would have felt capable of trying to make a shot on the shooter? If he was wearing a bulletproof vest (which I believe he was not, just a tac vest) would you attempt a head shot?
All said, it sure makes me want to shoot my EDC waaaay more often...seems like it's the gun I shoot the least!

I can't say because I have never been in that type of situation, but if I had to think what could I have considered that I would do, if I were not shiotting my pants or covering a loved one. If he was wearing a vest, I probably would have went for the upper arms to disarm him, then the legs to drop him, then whatever else needed to be done

i think any returned fire would have sent him running, he was a coward, thats why he chose a theater full of unarmed citizens and surrendered to the police. any returned fire probably would have sent his pansy ass running back the way he came. jmo

Comfortable? Not the right word in my opinion but I get your meaning. Just speaking for myself, I'm not sure how I would be able to look myself in the mirror tomorrow if I DIDN'T try to do something. I carry everywhere it is legal to do so and try to avoid any place I can't carry. Along with that comes a responsibility to be prepared as best I can to act if my INACTION would obviously result in loss of life. Not knowing anything other than that someone had just opened fire on an unarmed crowd including women and children would mean that I HAD to TRY to eliminate the threat. If it cost me my life(most likely) then at least I will have died trying.

I joined the army because I felt that serving my country was the right thing to do. While I never saw combat and don't boast of military service I have enough experiences(both in and out of the army) to know that I will try to do what is right even in the face of danger. If I didn't believe that I wouldn't feel qualified personally(not speaking of training/tactical/whatever) to even carry a gun. AS for the training aspect, well, I will admit I could surely use more training and practice. Let he who couldn't cast the first stone.

Doing my best to remain calm and end the insanity. The best option may not have been to shoot, but to rush him and put him down. Who knows, invinite variables and speculation. I train hard to make sure I act responsibly, thats the best I can do.
