Well I ordered a Sirio Tornado a few days ago. By my calculations and what I have to work with I should have the antenna base at 23 / 24 feet. I would like to get it higher but I am limited on placement at the time. We will see how it goes.
The Sirio Tornado is what I was thinking of getting. I west of Cartersville near Euharlee. I don't know how high I will be able to get it at first. I got an old post/mast with a TV antenna on it next to the house and thought I could put there to start. I will need to figure out how to et it...
I don't talk a lot and at this point the only arguments I have heard were from truckers on 75 in the afternoons going on and on about the traffic and such.
I have been listening on Side Band but have yet to try and et out to any one. I still have to figure out the cycles that need to happen for...
Have you had any work done on the Galaxy? If so what and by who. I really like that radio as well but the negative reviews and such have me holding off on getting one. The noise from the face plate back lights in particular.
Now isn't that just CUTE...... That's funny........ Let me "Tweak" this radio just a bit.........
I like the radios with Knobs and Switches better that Push Buttons and Menu's at least for mobile use. I am looking at the DX959b it has the backlit display. I keep seeing people say not to go with...
I was told that I should be able to get a flat 1.1 through all 40 channels by just nibbling at the antenna by about 1/8 inch at a time. I got a new SWR meter coming and will check readings with it and compare the two. A couple of nibbles shouldn't hurt anything.
Well the Sirio Antenna I think was worth the price. I could hear all kinds of radio traffic Friday and Saturday on LSB. It is one tall antenna at right around 7 feet. SWR's out of the box were very low, much lower than I could get with the K30 or Lil Wil. I still need to adjust to get them...
Thanks for the heads up. I may reach out and see if he is interested in talking to a new guy. I heard that SSB is where you find a lot of traffic so that is why I bought that radio. I am told that the mag-mount antennas were good but can't get the SWR's down so a recommendation for the Sirio...
Yea, I have been looking at lots of stuff on the internet and coming up with lots of questions. Test equipment can get pricey and some of it may not be accurate bit may work for my level of knowledge.
Yea, I believe the Golden Screwdriver had them for sale. I did not ask about them but one of his customers said he had one and was happy. Don't know that it came from the GS but rather that is what he had.
That is the problem, finding a shop that can be trusted to do right and give good advise...
