45-70 vs 30-30

More versatile. Cheaper, easier to find ammo. Cheaper to reload, and components are easier to find.

Buffalo Bore makes some ammo that many modern levers can handle that gets energy levels up over 3700ft-lbs.
Please verify as it has been years since I purchased any.

It will put a heavy, heavy slug clean through about any animal in North America.

On the other hand, can't go wrong with a 30-30.

After researching lever prices, availability, ammo prices, and so on.. I'm going to hold off an a lever and grab a 16 inch Remington 700 in .308 instead. The trade offs seem to be in the bolt action's favor.
