Why Are Guys Buying 10 Rd AK, AR And Pistol Mags?

Was looking at ammo online and started looking at mags and I see that LOTS of 10 round AK, AR and many pistol mags are sold out now. I am wondering if that is all people can find or are they getting ready for the possibility of laws changing to 10 round maximum like California? What is going on? Did I miss something as usual?

I buy 20 round AR mags cause they look cool. 10 rounders are good for bench shooting or hunting but that's about it.
