Nope, though not sure how that is relevant. Most of my hunting is done with a shotgun. I deer hunt with both rifle and bow. Last deer was taken with a bow, the one previous with a rifle. And?

No experience with their pistols, but have had good luck with their rifles. My Montana and Mountain Ascent would be about impossible to replicate without far more $ invested. From the thread, it would seem they worked hard to earn their reputation with pistols though.
No difference in light transmission in a larger tube. Only way to gather more light is with a larger objective. Larger tube allows for a more robust erector and more adjustment range. The human pupil can only open up so far to take in light, usually around 6-7mm in young healthy eyes. 40mm...

The 12ga I would want to carry upland hunting is not the same one I would want to send turkey loads out of. Those mentioned above are a pretty good compromise though.
