Am thinking (dangerous I know)..........an EGW base w front scalloped and after figuring where Warne rings need to be, removing most of the rail slots in between. Leaving maybe 3 slots per ring to adjust.
Rem 700 ADL .243 in HS precision stock, last run Leupold VX1 3-9X in Burris Sig Zees.
Rem 760 ADL in .35 rem, last run Leupold VX1 2-7X in low Burris reg Zees.
and lastly
Steyr Pro Hunter .30-06 w a VX3i Leupold 3.5-10x in low Burris reg Zees.
It put 4 into an inch w cheap WW 150 gr SP at 100...

Ruger #1s are notorious for having scope mounting issues.
Best damn looking production rifle, but not without its optics mounting quirks.
And they haven't changed it since.
Shame.
Love the Ruger #1 rifle, for looks and feel.
