Word of warning from someone who learned to drive in the Dakotas. Salt stops melting snow and ice around 10 degrees. Temps are down around that here. If it looks we, it's probably ice.

If it's not just one, then you can't get far enough fast enough to avoid the fallout in the prevailing winds....
Have you checked what's south west of your go to spot? Be a bummer to get there and find out that one or more of those "Strategic" targets were between you and the prevailing winds.
