Agree 100%. We need to teach kids about CC debt and student loan debt for that matter. Taking 60k out in student loans for a liberal arts degree is ludicrous!

Yep I'm not sure how many customers they actually have. IDEN still chirping along however it is end of life. Biggest problem now is nobody makes radios/phones for the stuff!
My situation is similar to your buddy's. I have a well from years ago that is still operational, my only current plan for it is irrigation. Since my house was built the county has gotten water out to my property.
