  1. I know I am an old fudd, by today's definition...but I am curious...

Kind of hard not to, hanging around this bunch.
  2. I know I am an old fudd, by today's definition...but I am curious...

Keep in mind that most of the guys in here carry an extra 40lb weight around their guts for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have done so for decades. They are not impressed. Meal Team 6, FTW.
  3. What weapon would you choose?

    AK w/irons, G19, Freeman 451 chopper.
  4. When Does Preparedness Change from Diligence in to Obsession

Totally agree with all of this. If life becomes absolutely miserable, why would I stack preps to prolong the misery? I'm not saying we should not try to be prepared for whatever comes, but if it takes away from our quality of life to the point where we lose our humanity, it seems pretty futile...
  5. Guard Dogs

I have a large Mastiff that is certainly a deterrent. I almost had to get rid of her because of her aggression towards the other dogs, but I figured a way to keep them separated. The way I figure, she is very loyal and very protective of the homestead, so she is worth having around, but if it...
  6. 1-Year Grid Down Prep

It may not be ideal, but swimming pool chlorine will clean the heck out of water, and is safe to drink in moderate amounts. Depending on the amount of water available, a stockpile of pool cleaner will work. If you have a pool, even better.
  7. 1-Year Grid Down Prep

The top 3 medical causes of death in 3rd world countries are skin problems, diarrhea, and respiratory issues. Plenty of soap, peroxide, and skin treatment cream will prevent a lot of skin issues. A stock of Pepto Bismol or other stomach soothing medicine is simple and can certainly help with...
  8. Simple & inexpensive off-grid cabin anyone can build

Reminds me of most hunting camps in south Ga. Lots of guys build little cabins like this on their places, and they are nice and cozy...I have helped build a few myself...Until the past year or so, they were also very inexpensive to build.
  9. People bought the ground beef and ground turkey and left the cured hams

Yeah it sucks I can't buy Turkey ground, but I do have a freezer full of deer meat, so there's that...
  10. Coronavirus Quarantine Rights

Exactly. Take some friggin responsibility and keep your ass home if infected with any contagious BS. I don't think I could live with myself if I caused others to get infected, knowing I was infected beforehand. Still, I will be at home and not taken to some govt camp. Not gonna happen.
  11. S--T is about to get real folks!

"No offense, it just makes sense"
  12. S--T is about to get real folks!

Mode-X should have cancelled, IMO. Another show setting up in A hall this week has been cancelled. Not certain if the organizers cancelled or if we cancelled, but it is cancelled. Final four is also cancelled, or at least there will be no fans. Stuff getting cray cray.
  13. Just ordered 184 cans of Chunky soup and 48 packs of crackers.

No Evan Williams green label? Lol...I only buy cheap stuff for storage. If SHTF, beggars won't be choosers.
  14. Just ordered 184 cans of Chunky soup and 48 packs of crackers.

I have a lot of salt stored away. It is a good barter item, or give away to some hard case in need. It is a good thing to have if the SHTF. Same with liquor. I don't even drink, but I have some hard liquor stored away for barter or medicinal purposes.
  15. Just ordered 184 cans of Chunky soup and 48 packs of crackers.

yep the salt is a preservative. Salt is also an essential mineral. We must have it. Mass quantities are not good, of course, but we all need a little salt. In the Roman days many of the soldiers were paid in salt. It is that essential. I believe the virus is a bad thing, and could be a...
  16. Coronavirus Pandemic (many threads merged)

I still see democrats as a greater threat. I am going to post this again. I believe Steve Bannon has the right idea on this virus. I like him, admittedly, and this may be his best interview ever, IMO. Its 51 minutes, but worth it.
  17. Coronavirus Pandemic (many threads merged)

A very eye opening interview with Steve Bannon. 51 minutes, and worth it. He rips the CCP apart in this, and doesn't hold back. He believes this could possibly end China. "This virus will take down the Chinese communist party. Mark my words" He says this at the end. His interview explains in...
  18. Best single gun for shtf

Best of luck to all of you .22lr guys if the shtf. "Muh .22 will take out an elephant at 500 meters. It's all about shot placement maing!" LMAO!
  19. Best single gun for shtf

This should bring 'em out of the woodworks. I will help open the can. If only one gun I suppose I would choose a handgun. If we are talking long guns I choose the AK. An AR would be fine too. My reasons for the choices are ammo carry. With a medium range rifle I can carry a substantial amount...
  20. Five Guns

You only need to know 2 or 3 to catch all kinds of crap. Heck a large rat trap can catch quite a bit. Same with a basic rabbit trap...But if those items aren't handy it is good to know how to rig a couple traps by using basic, bare necessities.
