Yes, that has given me a good seal. Try to get as much air out of the bag as possible and put an O2 absorber in it. My wife has sealed some with two iron seals instead of one. One has been good, squeeze the bag after you seal it and if the seal is not good air will escape. Just run another seal... -

The freeze dried foods are expensive and scarce right now. Don't wait, beans and rice in mylar and buckets and canned goods. Get what you can while you can. -

Don't focus on just getting beans, bandaids and bullets. Know what to do with the gear or what to if you don't have the gear. Get out in the woods and live for a few days out of your BOB. If you just buy gear, you are a prepper. If you know how to use it or make do without it, you are a survivalist.
