I used Quiet Riot in McDonough and was pleased with the pricing and the product. He's a member on here and he's got the SpecWar 7.62 in stock.

That's why the first step was to get his Class III :rolleyes2: He doesn't have to sell anything but he must have the license to do so in order to have an SOT weapon.
Even if it is full auto you can own it. Just have to get you Class III license ($800/year) and a letter from your local police dept. stating they want to see it in action (SOT letter). That, and a little paperwork and badda-bing, you now have a legal full-auto M4. And it would be worth, about...
On an AR type weapon, the lower is registered as the SBR, not the upper. This will change on different types of rifles though, I believe it depends on where the S/N is located.
Spiffy idea. Change your suppressor on your AR depending on if you're shooting 5.56 or .22LR. Of course once someone builds it, someone else will improve on it :D
Is the difference in sound just caused by the difference in temperature in the can? Because if so a lighter can would heat up faster (and be louder) than a heavier can (more mass, longer to heat up, stays quieter longer), correct?
I keep seeing references to "wet" and "dry" firing of suppressors. Does anyone here wet fire and if so does it really make a difference? Anything to look out for? I've seen water and water based gels (like wire lube for electricians) mentioned as working fairly well. Will doing this affect...

My grandfather just sold his.....for $800. But as a post-'86 it can only go to another Class III dealer. But I still got to shoot it once or twice :D :D :D
Thanks for all of the info (well most of ya'll anyways). I guess my whole reasoning for asking should have been more clear....I'm not just wanting to bait the ATF for this. My grandfather is a machinegun dealer and has M-16s (pre- and post-'86, papered, etc) and I wanted to get him this for...
From my understanding, owning a lightning link is alright as long as you don't own an AR platform as you couldn't use it for a FA firearm. Does this also apply to trigger parts (not whole groups...I believe those are registered as individual firearms). Basically I'm interested in the parts...
Plus it's $800/year to keep the Class III license. And yes the ATF can (and probably will at some point or another) come to your house and basically "check yo' $h!t out" just because they can. But at this point you're a machine gun dealer so you are (hopefully) making enough to cover these...
