If you’re going through the regular Form 1 process, you do need to engrave them. If you’re doing the “free” stamp via the new brace rule, then you don’t. The exception only applies to the new rule Form 1.
Their normal transfers are $50 which are still kind of high. Not sure why it's $100 for suppressors, but it still ended up being cheaper altogether since I got the can at a great price from another dealer.
For the firearms covered under the new rule, this is clearly spelled out as not needed, but I don't know about regular Form 1. I haven't done one since 2018 and at the time I thought you had to do that.
I think it's just for firearms covered under this rule. Here's what they say about markings in the new rule FAQ:
If the SBR equipped with a “stabilizing brace” is registered within the 120-day tax forbearance period, the possessor is allowed to adopt the markings on the firearm. The maker’s...
Form 4 filed: 4/4/22
Approved: 12/21/22
Single shot trust via Silencershop, but I purchased the suppressor somewhere else and had it transferred to Silencershop participating gun store ($100 transfer). I was able to purchase just the tax tamp and trust via Silencershop so I could use their...
This is only true if the firearm isn't already engraved with manufacturer markings. For example, you made your own from an 80% lower. If it already has markings, you can "adopt" those markings and no additional engraving is necessary. This is spelled out clearly in the guides put out by the ATF.
If you're registering for the "free" tax stamp, it's presumed that you were in possession of a pistol with brace already, which is why it qualifies for the free stamp. If that weren't the case, you could just register any lower or pistol for "free", which you cannot explicitly do according to...
I just certified my first e-form 4 on Monday and my dealer said none of the new e-form approvals have come back yet, so approval in days is surprising but promising to hear.
Yeah, exactly so if I’m going to have that much in it, I expect it to be reliable from the factory. That’s why I’m waiting to see what GP does before I go that route. I know the CZ is good to go but it doesn’t quite do it for me as much as the Stribog. Something about that SP9 I really like.
Yeah I saw those but I would much prefer GP solve the issue themselves. If they can’t, it may not be a gun worth owning. Depends on how bad I want. It’s already a bit overpriced at $1,100, let alone $1,400+.
I finally got my hands on a Scorpion which I plan to SBR. Also really thinking of doing a Stribog. :becky: Just waiting to see if GP or the aftermarket can address the ****ty magazine design.
I'm torn between these three 9mm cans. The modularity and slimness of the Odessa is great but my potential hosts already have suppressor sights or are carbines so the slimness is not really a huge advantage for me. To get the sound level I want (low 120s) the can is going to have to be roughly...
Not sure which is more unnerving at the range, someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing in the stall next to you, or someone mag dumping an SBR next to you. Damn that’s annoying.
