    From what I understand it is legal to own in its unfinished 80% form. Once you finish it, it then becomes illegal unless you are a manufacture and file a form 2 on it. Not for the everyday Joe.

    I just can't afford the $700 plus stamp upfront. I've never actually shot anything suppressed but I've got the itch for one.

    Plus the $ savings. Money is the only thing that's kept me away from suppressor ownership. This looks like an affordable opportunity. Just need to find all the tools. May have some buddies that I talk to for that.

    This part is true, however legally the pistol you use has to be stamped and becomes an SBR. Can it be done this way, yes, is it legal to do, no.
