  1. Educate me on drones.....

Don't buy a Spyder XL from Costco or Amazon. They're junk. Rotors held on by size 0000000 screws. Screws so small you can't even get them in place. Stupid.
  2. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

In reference to the Chinese pens- I've had a Jinhao x750 and it was by far the worst experience I've had with a pen, my other 4 pens being cheap Pilots. I hope you have better luck than I did. There is little QC on the Chinese pens so you can get good ones or pieces of junk.

I'm going all in as much as I can. I plan to max at least one 401k between me and my wife.
  4. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

Pay yourself first and you don't have a choice but to save. Just tell your company to put 15% into your 401k right off the top. It'll never touch your checking account so you'll never be tempted to spend it
  5. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

Call me a lazy, entitled millenial, but I don't want to still be working when I'm 50. Not even when I'm 40, really. I'm gonna try to get my savings rate up to 50% at the very least. Hopefully higher.
  6. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

I agree with you to some extent. Nothing like working the bolt of a rifle, or pumping a shotgun, or shifting a manual transmission, but capping and posting is something I can live without. I can appreciate a nice click mechanism as well. Still tactile, and honestly I like the action better...

Just when you thought interest rates couldn't get any lower! Seriously savings/CD/checking/whatever interest rates are so low now, you might as well throw that **** in a hole. I'm gonna get that 401k popping here in a couple months when I start my benefits eligibility. 50% match up to 6% plus...
  8. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

I like fountain pens for personal writing. Goals, to-do lists, notes, etc. I'll readily admit that they're not ideal for work. Anything at work that I would use a fountain pen for is done on the computer. Hell, at work I keep my lists on the computer as well. I still want that Vanishing...

BSB is the king of finicky- just do some Googling. The color is unmatched (so vibrant that it fatigues the eyes, according to some), but it's absolutely finicky. I think you're making the right decision. I would trade the pizazz of the BSB for a more non-descript workhorse ink in a second...
  10. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

Get out of here with those dressed-up ballpoints! ;) I use ballpoints all week at work. Too much scribbling and chicken scratch for serious writing.
  11. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

I have the bulletproof black, which I think they renamed to just noodler's black. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, it's a great all-around ink that does well on any paper better than the very cheapest stuff (it works fine on copy paper and nicer notebook paper). Only downside is that it dries out...
  12. Fountain pens and fine writing instruments

I've never been too interested in the flex or anything, but I may try it one day. I have 2 bottles of ink- Noodler's Black and Noodler's Baystate Blue.

I love fountain pens but I'm also a cheap bastard. The Pilot Metropolitan is absolutely fantastic for the price. I used them every day my last semester in school. Great pens. http://www.gouletpens.com/pilot-metropolitan-fountain-pen-black-plain-medium/p/PN91107 I have daydreams about...
  14. First Kayak

Same with the dog in my profile pic.
  15. What have you been reading?

I just started listening to 1984 on audiobook. Will be the second time I've "read" it. If you wanna see the other side of the coin- the road that I believe we're on- read Brave New World by Huxley. No need for boots on anyone's face when you can instead subvert them with the things they love.
  16. Today's Score

I don't have any knowledge that would be the least bit useful... just wanted to say- sweet. In 4 resto pics.
  17. Any other Ham Radio guys on here?

My dad is big into that stuff. W4BAB
  18. PS3 is over heating??

Hopefully he grew up and owns a PC now
  19. PS3 is over heating??

Geez, 3 pages in and not one PC master racer. Debating which console implies that one actually cares about performance... but we know you don't, otherwise you'd own a PC. :boink: If the fan(s?) work and the intake/exhausts are not blocked, then bad thermal paste (not "heat sink gel" WTF) is...
