Well,I was going to save this story for the Deer Camp thread, but I will go ahead and give the history that started my hate for possums. About 1989 at deer camp in Greene Co.one frosty morning I woke up earlier than usual to a gurgling of the gut , Call of nature. Im talking about a call you...
Me too. Actually I have 13 different calibers of the stainless skeleton stock series. But the 30 06 is my 1st and favorite. It fits like a glove. I bought it the year my daughter was born.
Hope to make it Tomorrow afternoon for 1st hunt this year. And I suppose my avatar needs updated. This Ruger Dirty ought 6 has been deadly at least once per season since 1990.
We had a visitor once in Greene Co back in the late 80s maybe 90 or 91 that arrived with a more laid back member, about 2 hrs after the evening hunt. He stood in amazement for a few minutes, watching and listening to all the regulars.I was always a lite drinker at camp and noticed the...
Got home tonite to my 10 yr old Dalmation about to tear the man door down to the Basement/Garage/Catch-all, part of the house. Now understand, she don't get real exited about much at her age, except dinner, a cat in the yard, or the occasional fu fu dog that decides to mark her territory, from...
Well I wish you the best of luck in the future,Sir. Ive been shooting the same old mod 77 Ruger wearing camo duct tape with 180 gr core lokt for 28 seasons now. Certainly nothing fancy here. I have other rifles. But this one just seems like an extension of my right arm.
I wont take a shot that Im not confident I can make. Im more of a powerline or fenceline hunter, so there tends to be a bit more time to make a clean, ethical shot.
I Dont bow or ML hunt anymore. I hunt with a mod 77 Ruger .I generally start off with 3 in the rifle. They stay in the gun with the bolt open when not hunting. By season close I generally have 2 or 1 left in the gun. Unless coyotes are plentiful that year. But never more than 3 rounds in the gun.
Had a bus driver in grade school ( bus # 2- 70. Been awile.)that would let us leave our 22 rifles and ammo on the bus from morning till afternoon so as all us guys could go squirrell hunting after school. It was a small mayberry type community back then. Way over crowded now, with a majority of...
2 ways to look at this. Either he was chasing something that already crossed the road, or something bigger chased him across the road. You can always hope!
