I see Sheffield is archery only. Has it always been that way? I always thought bowhunters were generally more considerate - or at least less trigger happy and meth-headed... or is that a false assumption?

I’m thinking carrying bear spray where I can get to it quickly (eg. on a belt), and a red light flashlight/headlamp will be my best bet. I’ve been reading that red light doesn’t disturb deer. Does anyone have experience using red light for hunting?
Yeah, yoooge respect to that guy for playing dead like that, I don’t think I could do it. It would go against my instincts to not fight back. Luckily I only have black bears to deal with.
I’m not opposed to hunting the bear if it’s legal. That’s the thing though, I don’t know if it is until I see it. I would hate to step on a sleeping sow with cubs in pitch black darkness. At that point I’m not sure there’s much that would help me even if I had a gun on me. But I could be wrong...
