I'm with Biker13. The way the dirt is thrown from the hole, I'd say armadillo. Although there are a few groundhogs here and there.

Mine are, in no particular order:
257 Roberts
7x57 Mauser
6.5 Grendel
Well, I suppose .41 Mag and .45 Colt should also be added to the list, as I also handgun hunt a lot.
If she'd actually hit the hog with one of those shots, it would be dead or gravely wounded. At under 10 yds, no need to cut a shell, as the shot is still together in a nearly solid mass.
Of course, when things are happening that fast, shots are difficult to make! Good on her for defending...
I miss my bird dogs. Had an English setter & pointer growing up. Hunted quail and woodcock 2-3 days a week in between school work and my after school job.
Lost my Brittany about 4 years ago and miss him every day...

Hunting private land or WMA? I'm dying to get back in the dove fields. My favorite hunts in years' past were the late season hunts.

I personally know 3 people who have had it, and it was most likely from tick bites in GA.
Nonetheless, there are a *lot* of tick-borne diseases that can...
Les has an excellent YouTube channel with a lot of his original footage up. Even has some lighthearted COVID-19 videos on his channel.

My Dad started me with a 410 dbl bbl (full x full) at 10 years old. Shot it for 3 more years until I could bring home about 75% as many doves as he did. Tough learning experience.
He said years later that he did me a disservice by starting me with a 410. Live and learn. At the time...
Everybody is recommending heavy loads, but I've been shooting them for all my life with 1 oz of #8 or #9 at 1200fps. Heavy loads just make your shoulder sore.
I agree with some who have suggested a better quality shell. Your patterns should improve with them. Skeet is really better for dove...
Keep us posted on how this goes. Years ago, I had a friend was pretty successful in moving scrapes. He would dig them up and move them to a better spot for his stand. Unbelievably, it worked several times.
