  1. What have you reloaded today?

Working on some loads for 41 Special for use in my S&W 41 Mag. Anybody have a good pet load for the 41 Special. I know its a wildcat but very nice to shoot in the 41 magnum. Also need some reloading bullets and interested in buying a Ruger SA in 41 magnum.
  2. Dillon Owners - Do you only use Dillon dies?

I have a couple of Dillons a 650 and a 750. I use mostly Dillon Dies but like some others. I have a set of Redding Pro dies I use in 40 S&W and a set of Redding in 223. I like the lee crimp dies in some calibers like the 40 because it resizes the loaded round. I guess I should sell one of...
  3. Dillon 650 large primer magazine

I usually just take off the ends of the tube and take out all loose primers and then take a plastic rod like the rod on the 650 tube for the low primer warning, and then try and gently tap the stuck one out. Have had success with this. Have also had one that would not budge. Worth a try.
  4. What would you buy

Right now availability is also a consideration. Hard to find Dillon stuff right now. If its available and a good price I would grab it. I have used most all of them for 50+ years and have settled on Dillon. But RCBS, Hornady are good options.
  5. Primer/powder shelf life?

I have loaded for 50+ years and never had this problem. Did you open the ammo and see if it had powder? Only time I have experienced this was with loads that did not get a powder charge. Loaded on a progressive and something happened so that the rounds did not get powder. That sounds like...
  6. Are Small Pistol Magnum & Small Rifle Primers Safe in 9mm? (video)

I have used all of these with no problems. Like any new load you need to start where you are supposed to and test before loading max loads in any caliber.
  7. Which powder scale?

I have used a lot of the old beam type scales over the years. I currently have a Dillon digital and have used it for several years. I really like it because you don't have to fumble with the dials like on the beam type scales. There are many scales to choose from and are less expensive than...
  8. Working up 9mm load

You are on the right track working up the load. Just make sure cases are sized and prepped and you are using the correct Overall length and the crimp is done right. Does your gun function well with other types of ammo? Watch for any pressure signs. You should stop when you get the gun to...
  9. 9MM Question for you reloaders

I have been using N320 lately. I have some great groups with it. I have also been using some 125 grain 38 bullets to reload some 9MM and 38 Super with great results. I have a Ruger combination with 357/9MM cylinders whcih I have also been doing some loads for. The N320 has given me some...
  10. 9MM Question for you reloaders

I have used Bullseye, 231, and many others. I recently tried N320 and I like it a lot. Seems to have less recoil and clean. Seems to be just a little more consistent.
  11. Do I really need a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die?

I now load all my pistol ammo on a Dillon 650. All Dillon dies have a separate crimp die. It is an advantage to be able to adjust the seating die in one station and adjust the crimp die in another station. If you are trying for best accuracy then use the crimp die. If you are not that...
  12. Getting started reloading

Start out with a basic single stage press and a set of Dies in a simple caliber (Preferably pistol) as there is not as much concern about length of cases etc. You will need a way to measure powder and a good basic reloading manual. I suggest a basic reloading scale instead of relying on powder...
  13. Dillon 750xl primer issue

I have the 650 with the old style Priming system and it has always worked perfectly. I have also owned 550s and have had problems with the 550 system. I can't understand why Dillon ever changed the 750 to use the old syle 550 priming system. Maybe I am missing something. I would like to know...
  14. Dillion XL650 depriming issues

If you can't adjust it out or find a broken pin or what the problem is call Dillon and they will walk you through it. I have had this problem but it was due to adjustment of the die or decapping pin. Swaged cases can be a problem but these are usually 5.56.
  15. Looking for progressive press. Which one should I buy?

Dillon 650. I have owned most all of them at one time or another, LEE, RCBS, Hornady. Dillon is the best. It also holds its value better than anything you can get. RCBS and Hornady are great companies, but the Dillon is just my favorite and the 650 is my favorite Dillon especially with the...
  16. Best place to order Dillon 650

I would go with the 650 for the auto indexing and Casefeeder. If not using a casefeeder then the 550 is fine. 650 also has another slot on the toolhead which is very useful. I have 550, 650 and 1050. Overall prefer the 650 for convenience. 1050 is a super machine but better suited for one...
  17. Best reloading equipment.

I have used almost all of them over many years of reloading. Dillon is the best all the way around. I prefer the 650. 1050 is a great machine but the time to change calibers makes it less desireable to me than the 650 and I own both. I have used RCBS, Hornady, Lee and for Rifle and Pistol...
  18. First problems with reloads need help

That would be my first guess that the primers got wet. I have reloaded for many years and it is very rare that you get primers new in package that do not work. I have had almost no problems with bad primers over the years. Its usually caused by something else like a light strike or something...
  19. First problems with reloads need help

Primers are not going off at all. If they were you would here a pop and have a squid (light) load which will lodge a bullet in the Barrel. This is one of the most dangerous things when reloading, other than overcharging. If the round does not go off or does not sound right always stop and...
  20. 38 spcl / 30 +P case question,,,,,,,

+P are better cases designed to withstand more pressure.
