Somebody makes a bullet with a blue coating that is like a lubricant and is suppose to improve ballistic performance. It may been applied only in the part of projectile that hits the lands and groves. That's my best guess. Maybe by a reloader.
Aside from IMR 8208 XBR I can get pretty much anything I want. I bought the last pound they had of that Friday. It ain't cheap but by the time you factor in Hazmat and shipping it comes out cheaper. A lot cheaper!
Mil-spec accuracy on a AR-15 is 4 in. If I can squeeze my 223 rounds around 1 inch MOA I'll be happy. Most of the .223 loads I am doing now are just load, pack, drop a desiccant bag in and then store. One MOA will suffice for that.
Well the IMR 8208 XBR is the bomb in my 6.8spcll guns. It will do under 1/2 if I am shooting decent that day. 3/4 or a little better when I am not in the groove.
As for the .223 the Varget it's the best I have tried so far. Shoots in a 1/2 inch circle at 50. I haven't had a chance to go any...
Like I said in the previous post my 6.8 SPC loads are perfect for the barrels that I have. However my 223 rounds could use a little refinement. So far the best combo I've come up with is 23.5 grs. of Varget under a 69 grain RMR projectile. It's not quite as accurate as I would like but it's sure...
You are right. My receipt said # 450 small rifle
Magnum primers. I just looked at the box and it says #400 small rifle primers. Sorry for the mix up there. So all is good and the same I have been using all along. It has been a while since I purchased them and was a tad mislead by the receipt. I...
I called my little off the beaten trail Gun shop and had them set some small rifle primers aside for me. They had several different kinds but I asked for the CCI ones. When I received them yesterday I didn't pay much attention but today I went and looked and they are CCI number 400s which are...
Couple hundred .223 rounds. 69 gr. RMR projectiles over 25.3 gr. of Varget. It took forever. That stick type powder is a pain to meter. If I get 7 pieces of brass right on the money I feel lucky. Usually it's a slow trickle till I hit the mark. Frustrating after so long..
I have a big plastic bowl I put all my brass in I put about a 50 to 1 hundred pieces in the bowl and spray it liberally while I'm shaking the bowl around. I get great coverage cuz I've only had a stuck brass case twice in the 7 years. I also spray a little bit up into the die itself as well
