I wonder if they pulled those from the wrong barrel. They sell "mixed bags" occasionally that are all different weights. Sounds like that's what they sent you.
The Federal plastic hulls reload fine, but you probably won't get as many cycles out of them as some others. If someone had a blown out barrel, it definitely was not due to using cheap hulls. They had other issues.
Reloading shot shells now can definitely be cost prohibitive, as lead and...
I agree with that Lee trimmer killing your hands. The trick is to use pliers to tighten the shell holder. Then it's locked in tight and your fingers don't get shredded up.
If you want a super cheap trimmer that actually does a great job, this is it:

Those are made by the same caring little chinese hands that make most (if not all) of the other digital calipers out there.
Personally, I'd recommend getting a decent progressive press. They're not a whole lot more expensive than a single stage once you add up all of the extras needed with a single that you don't need with a progressive. (Powder dropper, hand primer, trays, etc.) A press, a caliper, and a scale...
I also use the RCBS bench mount swager. It's the same as the Dillon, but the motion rotates sideways vs over the top. If you're using a single stage, you can also get a pocket swaging die.
Yep. It's ridiculous.
I don't think you can order from them and have it shipped to dealers. I think you have to order through their dealers, and pay their dealers' prices. (I'm not even sure if they have a list of local dealers available.)
That company keeps posting all over various groups. I consider their load "data" to be very incomplete and I personally wouldn't use a powder with vague data.
The tumbler is to clean your dirty brass. You'll also need a set of calipers to measure your bullet lengths. (I've been very happy with my cheap Harbor Freight digital calipers and my Harbor Freight vibratory tumbler, for that matter.)
Personally, I would get a reloading manual before...
That's actually not a bad price. Even if you could find it in stock somewhere else, it'd cost $40+ in shipping and haz-mat fees, which would put it right up to that range. I'd like to see it for less if I was looking, but for a very popular powder that's hard to find, that's not horrible at...
If you're looking for some cheap range rounds, give these a shot.

Some people have had issues getting them to work, but my (30) test rounds functioned 100% without a hiccup in an unmodified Magpul magazine. Oal 2.065" 15 gr H110.
I think it's more in the velocity that makes the difference. I reloaded (according to the load data) some 180gr .357 magnums that I thought would be wrist breakers, even at lower velocities, but they were creampuffs. Conversely, I reloaded some hot 140gr XTP .357s that were absolute brutes...
If you're reloading to save money, shop around. You should definitely be able to get down below $8/box for good target 9mm ammo. Check out Xtreme Bullets for projectiles. They actually have a 24 hour sale on 9mm today.

That's what I meant. The more you shoot the more you save!
I think anyone can handle it pretty easily, especially with the advent of digital scales and calipers. Other than setting everything up and dialing in some basic measurements, it's mostly a matter of pulling a handle.
The Dillon 550...
First, I don't know why people say you won't save money (shooting more just means your saving more!) EVERY round can be reloaded cheaper than it can be bought loaded. Some rounds just save more than others. I might save $5-7 on a box of 9mm, but I save about $35 on a box of .44 magnum...
I've shot a handful of the Hornady bullets and they seemed to work fine. They were just my test rounds, so I don't have much experience with them yet. I'm also going to shoot some of the Xtreme bullets that seem to be hit or miss with a lot of people. If those work reliably, they'd be a super...
I bought a Lyman manual, but I never even use it. I always go to the manufacturer's website for load data. I've actually seen a typo or two in the manual, but luckily I knew they were typos. Typos on the sites can be corrected immediately when caught.
