Honestly the IMS issue usually only occurs in the first few years of the car if ever, so if the car hasn't experienced a failure yet I doubt it ever will.
Well it's not that bad, specially 3.0's and 3.2's (911 SC's and mid-late 80's 911's) but parts do come with the Porsche tax. If you can do the labor yourself which a lot you can, and it's fun, then you can save some money.
Yep, that's my vote, aircooled. Sure the newer watercooled cars will be faster, but they sure as hell won't be more fun. Here's my 1977 911 with a 3.2 from a 1986 911, best money I've ever spent. @SafeCracka has been trying to buy it from me since I got it.
If you get a 996 get a turbo, otherwise it's POSSIBLE to have an IMS failure albeit it very unlikely this late in it's life, the trick is to drive them and theres less likely a failure. A 996 turbo doesn't have the IMS issue and is also a Mezger engine which is likely their best watercooled...
Haha I would never! I'm not big into RWB, although my buddy had a wide body 993 but it's done tastefully. I won't do anything more than a ducktail maybe, powder coat the center of the Fuchs, and remove that awful window tint. Oh and Singer style HIDs are coming this month, that will be a huge...
Porsches are not that terrible. They're not less reliable than any other make and they perform way beyond what everyone compares them to reliability wise. Sure they're not as cheap as a Toyota to repair, but they're also not as expensive as a Ferrari. In the end it's a car, it's not a real...
I suggest you not get a FJ but a 70 series.. The FJ is basically a cooler Jeep, and increasingly a hipster mobile. 70 series landcruisers are legitimate overland vehicles. Also do not buy ANY vehicle that has been in South America.
