That was my understanding as well. I can tell you, unless the policy has changed, that the Cherokee Tag Office in south Canton on Hwy 5 is no carry due to the leo on duty.
There was a huge stink over it several years ago.
I'll try to find out more info on it. I hope their stance has changed...
Carrying a firearm in a city/county/state govt building is prohibited if they have a security present and at least one of them is a cpo.

In Cherokee, it is my understanding that carrying in the tag office is a no go since they have an off duty officer present. I started using the drive thru because of it. I haven't been inside except for once in the last several years, and the officer was sitting on his butt playing on his phone...
I hate driving thru all the speed traps on 411. The speed limit changes every 1/2 mile.
When we go to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge we go to Blue Ridge then thru the Nantahala Gorge to Cherokee and across. Nice drive.
