    My best one in velvet this year is not going on anybody's wall, but he's pretty friendly. (Edited: he is one year old; he's smaller than the two-year-old does). He's going to be a monster in three years or so. Well, for Texas anyway.

    This one's good for around here. First time the "boys" have come through the yard that I've seen. I have 17 does and about 10 fawns that are here regularly, but the boys stay a couple of streets over. But they came through Wednesday. Several nice 8's and this 11. Seven boys on the prowl.

    Baby Bucks in Velvet just started sparring this morning-- first I've seen. These are yearlings, I think. Soon to be vanquished when the big boys start making their rounds.

    Back on topic, here's an eight in velvet, and a 10 who is scraping his off. They were together this morning. I didn't realize the antlers were red when they are polishing them. Haven't seen that before though.

    These aren't in velvet, but here are pictures of deer doing things hunters don't often get to see. Best possible use for a Chinaberry tree... Deer food. I still need pics of the does standing up and fighting each other. They do; some kind of dominance thing.

    The boys are back in town... came down my street. I think they are starting to cruise does. The does were all very disturbed when the three bucks paraded through. Normally only a loose dog gets them that riled up.

    Here's a closeup of a young one in velvet, and "my" three legged doe. She has twins again this year, which is pretty good for a deer that can't put weight on that leg. Guess she can't outrun the bucks, either. Best we can tell, she has at least five offspring, and at least one grand-deer, but...
