  2. Dawsonville Georgia Nuclear Aircraft Laboratory 1959........ Bet ya didn't know

Pretty cool site. When they finally shut it down the fuel was taken to Georgia Tech and ran their test reactor that operated until it was decommissioned before the Olympics.
  3. stinky-bottoms non answer on atl homeless pop explosion

It seems to be cyclic around here. I’ve been here in the city proper for 15+ years not counting college and I can’t tell if it is getting worse, but it sure ain’t getting better. There is a tent city at Maynard Terrace and I-20 that I always see on my way to work. I-20 and 75/85 interchange...
  4. U.K. Plans to Ban Gasoline & Diesel Cars by 2035

Doesn’t seem too crazy. In 15 years, I don’t know how many gas/diesel vehicles will be made.

  7. A new study proves parachutes are useless

It was life changing, painful, and humbling, but no telling where I would be now if it had not happened. Skydiving is a lot of fun, but the price of a mistake is high.
  8. A new study proves parachutes are useless

Meh, they work okay. Mine slowed me to about 65mph or so before I landed from 14,000’. It only took me 6-7 mo to learn to walk again.
  9. Cities crack down on dirt bikes

Decatur born, Lithonia raised right here. My grandmother was a teller at East Atlanta Bank, now Flatiron, when she was 14. They lived in a house where I-20 is now. Fathers side of the family lived off Florida, West of Moreland. Both of my uncles went to school at Whitefoord. From there the...

  11. Cities crack down on dirt bikes

Guys ride around the neighborhood all the time with no helmet doing wheelies on dirt bikes and four wheelers. It would be one thing if I was out in the hinterlands but I'm talking about Moreland Ave, Memorial Dr, Flat Shoals RD and Glenwood Ave in town. It has been a lot quieter since school...
  12. Why have so many men stopped working?

Going to work all day to pay for my kids daycare is a bad decision. I did odd jobs, built a few decks and fences, etc to make some contribution to our family finances. When the market picked back up, I got right back in there. Yeah, it's a different mentality, i work to live, not vice versa...
  13. Why have so many men stopped working?

That's not always true. I had to let good people go when the economy soured. I held on to them as long as I could afford. When I found myself working part time and taking care of the kids, it did take a certain amount for me to go back to work full time. Child care costs me about $2k/mo...
  14. Why have so many men stopped working?

Well on my job site right now we are starving for manpower, and from the indicators we are looking at, there is only going to be more demand in the coming months/years. Right now there is so much going on and new projects breaking ground carpenters and rodbusters can almost name their price...
  15. Child critical after accidental shooting in DeKalb County!

If that's what it takes to keep that kind of mindset north of the river, so be it...
