I have the original Work Sharp. Love it. It gets used regularly around here and has put a razor edge on knives I thought were hopeless.

I have a couple of those Old Hickory knives and love them in the kitchen. Both of my blades have turned an even brown, except for the edge, which I keep sharp. If I dry mine after every use/wash, the blades don't rust...sort of like a Browned finish on an old muzzleloader.

No problem, just didn't want someone getting burned by a caustic solution! Oh, and another slight hazard of this process...it gives off Hydrogen, so do it outside! :grey:
That is NOT the kinda of "soda" to use! You want WASHING soda, or sodium carbonate. Arm & Hammer makes it. You're trying to create an electrolyte solution. Baking soda will work in a pinch.
