Original Ruger LCR in .38SPL. It was light, easy to carry, and reliable; but it never felt "right" in my hand shooting. I had a few snubs at the time that I shot and enjoyed, but that one just felt wrong to me. Nothing wrong with the revolver, we just didn't get along!
While I prefer the .357 magnum for that versatility that you mention; in certain guns, I just prefer the "classic" .38SPL caliber, And with a good load, it'll get the job done just fine.
I've never got one from that, but have had it bad from weight training before. Believe it or not, one of these support bands works wonders. There are many kinds out there and they shouldn't affect your shooting.
Had and loved the XDS .45 - great accuracy for a small pistol. Recoils was quite manageable for me. Sent it for the recall, got it back, and hated the trigger. Decided that the 1911 that I'd switched to while waiting was more my speed anyway, so away it went.
To be fair, I can't say whether...
Another vote for the 92 for all the reasons mentioned by the posters above me. I've had and enjoyed both, but if the 92 fits you better, that's the way to go.
I've shot and carried both a good bit over the years and really like them both as self defense rounds. The difference in recoil is going to have a lot to do with the weight of the pistol and the design of the grip, but assuming both guns were of similar weight and design, the .44SPL will have a...
I agree that $569 is a bit steep. They turn up on here for <500 often enough. However, they are indeed great little pistols and certainly worth the money. I had one not long ago and absolutely no issues whatsoever. As someone else mentioned, they have a great trigger and are certainly one of...
I can't remember who it was, but someone on ODT helped me when I had a 92FS by telling me to hold the sights "dead naught" instead of the usual sight picture; meaning to put the sights directly on top of what you want to hit as opposed to the traditionally taught picture of putting the bullseye...
I never think about them in those terms, really. I just buy or trade for things that I think I'd like to shoot. Then when I get tired of shooting them, I do it again. Not opposed to the idea of collections, its just not how I think personally.
I had a StormLake .40 to 9mm for my G23 and it did great. Was accurate and no further adjustments were needed. Just dropped in the barrel and a 9mm mag and it was ready to go.
Never have had a regret about a trade or sale. Having too much fun getting to shoot different guns to pine over one special one myself. I have a couple that are in the "would sell last" category, but they're all for sale or trade for the right deal.
I've had a few, but 2 really stand out for me: Ruger LCR & Sig P220. Both shot fine and performed flawlessly, but compared to other guns, my overall feeling was one of being underwhelmed. I think that I just had my expectations too high on both.
I put around 200 rounds through my last one and it did fine, no failures of any sort. My first one was a gunshow bargain when I was in my late teens and I know I put 500+ rounds through it (including 158gr & +P loads) with no issues. Sounds like these guns are hit or miss; if so, I got lucky...
Nice!! I've had a couple of these over the years and they are GREAT little shooters. The only reason I don't still have one is the dreaded trade bug always gets me (especially on .38s for some reason). Congrats on the good find!
Same here...was WAY happier with the trigger pre-recall work! Glad to read these today, I thought it was just me since I've been shooting & carrying 1911s since I sent it off and of course most any striker-fire trigger is gonna suffer in comparison! Will probably still keep the XDS, as I still...
