Sounds right. Seems like just a few years ago there was an ammo component shortage. A lot of the basic rounds were hard to get and/or costly for quite a few months. I hope things settle down soon.
Agreed, I've heard the bolt stories too. The one I have has not opened up on headspace at all. The rear sight messed up so it was replaced with a USGI unit and has been good to go since.

I believe the duckbill term refers to the metal extended in front of the 20/30 round mag that allows it to be used in an unmodified SKS. The mag looks like a standard AK 20/30 round mag with a metal extension that hooks into the SKS in the same location as the original 10 round does...
I have a 30 round on mine but I leave it in all the time and load it with stripper clips anyway. I haven't had any trouble pressing the top round down far enough to let the bolt close.
