It's common, well more common than you'd think. If it bothers you take the full mag (hole side) and slap it against your palm, a table top, etc. If that doesn't work try it after every round that you load.
While it may not seem much in the aspect of measurements it's quite a big difference in weight. At about 6oz lighter it will be much easier to edc and the slimmer profile will add to that.
The safest way to carry a 1911 is the way you feel comfortable. With that being said the 1911 was designed to be carried cocked and locked.
Carry it cocked and locked with an empty chamber around your house, you will gain trust once you see it's not going to magically come off safety and fire.

I no longer carry IWB after trying a X-Concealment Generation 2 C holster. It's the most comfortable holster I've found to date, and conceals as well as anything IWB.
