Barnes ammo is the stuff. With that said, I've killed plenty of deer under 100 yds with the Remington (green/white box) 120 grain. It's a JHP. It used to be the hog hammer brand, but now it doesn't say that. It's about $15/box, and I've put 3 rounds at 100 yds within an inch on multiple...

I am definitely am leaning piston again because I plan to run it suppressed. I wonder if anyone knows how much is lost say out to 400 yds going from a 16” to a 12.5” in .308. With enough practice you should be able to figure out your drop and adjust. I’m not looking for a 1000 yd rifle just...

Anyone have one to let go?
Anyone shot one?
Pros and Cons?
School me on why piston or DI would be your choice?
Thanks for the opinions and education in advance.
The maker 85 grain opened up nice for sure. I do not see it on their website, but assuming that the cost is inline with the 95 grain, is that ammo 50% better for X?
I’ve only got my one the block because I have more than 1. I love the DD I have up, but it is more valuable in the marketplace that my 12” PSA pistol and I want something else on here that is surprisingly still available. If it sells I have a new toy to buy, if not I’ll continue to enjoy...
Any more suggestions on something bigger, in the 120 grain range? I'll end up hunting deer and hogs with this is addition to other things. The 1st shot is not the problem, but for follow up shots on 2nd and 3rd hogs, I want more weight than an 85 grain. The Hornady ELD or SST rounds seemed...
All good information guys. Thank you. I think I am going to go with the shorter length barrel due to the weight and maneuvering advantages since I doubt realistically that I take it out past 500 ever unless it's target practice.
Long range precision hunting in the AR platform, but not really past 300 yds. I kind of think it is a waste to buy the 12" when you can do so much more with the 18".
