I've got nothing against the Nepal imports, since I'm looking for something that's going to be shot often and alot.
I just wish I'd jumped on them years ago because it seems that now the good shooters are few and far between. It seems that they're pretty much mostly down to wall hangers now...
I've really been trying to find either a British snider(or even a Nepalese copy) or a Gewehr 71 locally.
I'm a bit leery of the Snider's through IMA these days(they seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel now) and of purchasing any of them online. I'd like to find one I can examine before...
I have been carrying ball, 230 grain. That or my own handloaded lead round nose rounds loaded with unique at just over 800 f.p.s. I know a lot of folks scuff at lead projectile's for SD but I've found they expand MUCH more than a lot of the HP rounds(at sub-+p velocities anyway).
And i hadent...
I thought of that as well, but I've used +p loads in other pistols in the past and more recently in the pistols of friends and family without having the accuracy problems I'm experiencing now.
And also i want to solve the reliability problem, having every 2nd or 3rd round fail to feed is a BIG...
Hoping some of you can help me out here.
I carry a R.I.A 1911 in .45 acp, i love this pistol. Feels like an extension of my arm, like any defensive firearm should, and is amazingly accurate.
Downside is this, its amazingly accurate with 230 grain fmj ball and 230 grain cast ammo. I've...
The OP is musing about the Zombie apocalypse though, center mass hits don't do much but slow them down, according to the movies anyway lol.
So unless you've got a grenade launcher or a .50 bmg a center mass hit won't save you.
Yes but those are USUALLY extreme range hits or glancing hits. A straight on hit with a .22 long rifle at ranges up to about 250 yards with a 40 grain or heavier bullet will penetrate a human skull with more than enough power to tare up the brain.
Hell, way back when i was a kid my dad would...
Why would we trash them? I've owned and handled a bunch of theirs, both pistols and carbine/rifles. Every one ran without a hitch and was pretty darn accurate to boot.
That being said, look into kel-tec. Their usually very affordable even new and if you buy them new they have a lifetime warranty.
I believe the problem with mine was build up in the bolt. The firing pin was very snug when i removed it during disassembly and cleaning. I checked and there was what looked like hardened cosmoline inside the bolt and on the pin itself. It was a real bugger to get it all out but she seems good...
I researched the whole slam firing issue with these rifles. The issue seems to be due to the free floating firing pin that is rather heavy. If not kept clean crud build up in the bolt causes it to stick forward and not retract as the new round is chambered.
I've checked around and everyone has...
Hey all, just wanted to get a little of yalls input.
I recently did some horse trading(as usual) and finally got one of the rifles that's been on my 'need' list for years. A French MAS Mle 49/56 that is still in the original chambering of 7.5x54, not the rechambered one in 7.62x51( those are...
