  1. What to get in a $1500 AR?

I'm no AR expert but if you're asking the question, you're probably near my level, lol... There's so many brands and options it'll make your head spin. Many of them are great but for a first AR I'd go with an FN or Colt. Just get a base model and upgrade to taste on your own. Resale value will...
  2. Stupid question?

It's been debated a ton but here's my explanation - Metal will flex back and forth basically indefinitely unless you reach the yield point. The yield point is where the metal actually bends permanently. If you want to bend sheet metal, you have to over-bend it to get past the yield point...
  3. Ruger sickness

Yes it's a 10/22. The chassis is from Midwest Industries. There are some issues with getting it to fit and it's a little heavy, but it is sweet. Very solid.
  4. Ruger sickness

Ha, I just saw this old comment. If it makes you feel better, I overpaid for this setup. I couldn't find the chassis so I paid a premium for it after a long search. Saw it for less the week after. I don't care though, it's sweet.
  5. We kinda figured this..

Biden is dragging this out. He's talking about gun control but not really making a huge push. He doesn't want to push and have to take a loss. Sadly, he's probably waiting on a tragedy to make a big move. Politics, ugh. If he makes a move and it doesn't happen, then yeah, I'd agree, it'll...
  6. We kinda figured this..

9mm would be a great barometer. I expect the military calibers and 22LR will be the leading indicators.
  7. Accidents

Thanks for posting this. I haven't had one but I have caught myself breaking one of the 4 safety rules before so it could have happened to me too. I expect most people that handle firearms a lot have made a mistake before. Sharing this stuff helps keep the rest of us from getting complacent.
  8. We kinda figured this..

Yeah, I'd agree with that. 6 months to see it in stock regularly. Another 6months for prices to settle back down. The article just made it sound like there's no end in sight for the shortage. To me, we're seeing the start to the slow end of it.
  9. We kinda figured this..

Yeah, this article is pretty vague though. The fact that shelves aren't completely bare everywhere is the first signs of things getting back to normal. Sure, we're still 6+ months away from seeing ammo in stock everywhere but we're on the downward slope finally.
  10. To 80% or not to 80%?

NY had about 4% compliance when they were required to register (SAFE act). I didn't hear about any raids on people that didn't comply. Really, they know there will be massive non-compliance. The goal will be to make things more difficult in the long run. It took 100yrs for England to get like...
  11. To 80% or not to 80%?

Hypothetically, lets say the government forces registration. I will follow the law and register all the firearms that I own. Unfortunately, there are a number of firearms that I purchased new or with some other kind of traceability that I no longer own. I may get asked by the gov't to give some...
  12. Thank you everyone

I've had a couple S&W 1911s and they are great. I haven't had a Ruger 1911 but I have/had plenty of Rugers. They make quality stuff at reasonable prices. I wouldn't hesitate to get a SR1911. Resale on both are good since they're known solid brands. No disrespect to Rock Island, I just haven't...
  13. Sorting .22lr ammo- Most to least valuable list

Round nose will be a little more desirable because it feeds in semi-autos better. Some guns are a little picky about ammo. You may want to test out the different types you have and find out if any don't work well with your gun. I sold off some excess ammo a while back. I just guessed at pricing...
  14. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

I emailed PMACA and this was the response... "Best option for a standard Ruger receiver, is to have CPC1022 add a KIDD rear tang. I’m working on a clamp that would use a cleaning hole drilled through the back of the receiver, to clamp, in a similar fashion." Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  15. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

All 3 are lefties and I shoot left too!!!! Dude, I forced myself to shoot with right handed rifless for years because I thought it make me better when my kids got older... Son and nephews all shoot left. LOL EDIT, kid closest to the camera actually has cast. He tends toward left too.
  16. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

LOL, yeah, I grabbed this one just for the matt finish and semi bull barrel. The stock has to go. I've had a few MI upgrades and their stuff is rock solid. I'm looking at the longer fore-end because it looks solid and looks freaking cool, lol. Really, by time I setup another chassis they way I...
  17. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

This poor thing is begging for a new stock. I've been looking at chassis. I'm really liking the Midwest Industries one. Adjustable stock for the kids and seems to be pretty solid. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  18. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

This classy girl is 35 yrs old and had brought home a lot of squirrels. Grandpa always had it in his truck. Still shoots great. I put a buffer tube in it to try and preserve it better, along with a bolt release mod and an extended mag release. Grandpa had a Tasco 4x on it and I'm not changing...
  19. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

@Gadgetsrfun @6Bones took this picture at our 1/2 day Appleseed class. My son and 2 nephews. It was a great day. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  20. 10/22s... Ok, I get it now

WOW, great responses, thanks everyone. I'm gonna start here though. Love to hear thoughts on the below from anyone... Auto bolt release (Dremel tool) - Yep, down with that. Eagle claw extractor and spring - What does this do? I've never really had much of an extraction issue. Bolt buffer -...
