    Because you would be sealing at least a small ammount of moisture in with the rifle.. it could still rust.

    I second whats already been said.. copious amounts of cosmoline, then wrap them with something cause that **** is nasty. Worked for Nagants for years of storage in a warehouse, and when a new batch is imported covered in cosmoline in their crates they are still shinny like new once its all...
