I just ran a small batch of hull preserves and it tastes awesome! I got a jar set aside for you. Im not sure if they’re gonna compare to the ones your Mother made for you, but we’ll find out soon enough!
I’ll be in Whitesburg tomorrow if you want to meet up to get a jar.
Sorry for your loss brother, mine has been gone almost 5 years now.
I’ll try to make some and let you be the guinea pig. Lemme get done with this mother load of fruit that I have now and I’ll whip some up.
The leftover hulls do make good deer bait though.
I bag the hulls and put them out for the deer most of the time. I can save them and bring them to you if you want them for hull preserves.
Maybe I should try making them??
The whole house smells like them right now. It’s crazy.
I have a friend who has several hundred linear feet of vines. He...
I got about 30-40# of scuppernongs and muscadines picked and ready to roll. I got three and a half jars of jelly made from the first batch, It barely even knocked a dent in the barrel full that I picked. I’ll probably end up with 16-18 jars of jelly at this rate.
Mine has been gone for almost 4 years Brother, a big piece of my heart went with her.
My Grandmother has been gone for several more. When I tried this newest batch of jelly it made me get all choked up. It tasted just like the stuff my Grandmother used to make......My goal was achieved.
I was at work the other day and walked outside for a short break. The smell of muscadines caught my attention.
Low and behold there was a vine full of them and the ground was covered in them as well.
In 30 minutes I had picked enough to make that batch of jelly.
Made two jars of muscadine this evening. I used the recipe that includes pectin.
It begins to congeal much faster with the pectin added. The recipe makes two, 16oz jars.
