Please don’t take my post the wrong way.
You literally asked, “how do you all handle this?”
My answer was: Keep moving. There’s nothing else you can do about it, per the rules.
Yes, I agree with you. People shouldn’t say “I’ll take it!” without meaning it, but unfortunately, it happens.
Tomato, to-mato. I wouldn’t get so worked up. It’s just semantics and/or a lack of knowledge. Frustrating, yes, but who really cares. Some people are stupid.
My settings are such that when I post on a thread, it subscribes me to that thread. If anyone else posts, if the OP posts and reduces price or bumps, etc., I am notified. Sure, I could press the little "subscribe" button, but then I'm not making progress towards my golden egg/hens.. and that's...
1) make sure all communication goes through ODT PM (mods won’t enforce communication through phone or text)
2) have him meet close to you at a location of your choosing
3) Use common sense. If he can’t form coherent sentences, is bad at communicating, etc. then I would steer clear.
I'm all for the personal liberty to do as one pleases. That's just too much, though, and I wouldn't be buying from him. One could argue that the buyer is putting himself at privacy/safety risk because of the seller's demands.
The quality of ODT and its userbase seems to have severely degraded since early 2020. I'm not sure why, but I have noticed as well and made several of my own rant type posts. Lots of low-quality newcomers.
I'm never going to change your mind; it is what it is.. but that's okay. I'm certainly not going to sit here and waste the day arguing with you about it. Your entire argument resides on the "woe is me" mentality and that "the system did someone wrong." It really is not hard to find a job/career...
Life is based on choices, and our choices create outcomes both positive and negative. If someone makes enough money monthly to afford $1.6K in rent and lives paycheck to paycheck, that is their choice. "Living to your means" is a very real concept. The vast majority of Americans "make more...
That’s total BS, I’m sorry. Education (while it isn’t the only way) created an avenue through which ANYONE willing to work hard can succeed and beat any sort of paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. Unless they are handicapped, and if they are then you’re using a very poor example, then it is their...
That would tick me off. I learned my lesson a year or two ago in a somewhat similar situation. Always always always always get the time and location of the meet in a PM otherwise the mods won't enforce a negative feedback. Had a guy bail on me and we had the details on text messages. He even...
