    I shoot 8” plates at 50 yards almost every session with my G17. Low quality ammo won’t do great at that range, but I can hit them every time with handloads.     I can deliver rounds on target way faster with 9mm, and it’s far cheaper to practice with even if you reload. Someone with greater skill can probably lay down fire just as effectively with .40 or .45, but that’s not me.
