Just now replying to this. It was indeed an ECM motor and there is no capacitor for these, hense the reason I couldn't find one. The motor itself was going to run around $800 but got a guy to replace it, with a bit of rewiring, with the a different style for half the price. Thanks to all for...
I certainly appreciate all the offers and suggestions guys. I'm going to have to locate the capacater as soon as I can get back up there. Nothing would please me more than to find it all swelled up and obviously bad.
I think you're thinking about the capacitor for the condenser fan or for the compressor (outside unit). The capacitor for the evaporater blower motor would be on the inside unit.
The capacitor must be behind another panel because it's not in the immediate area of the fan, the relay, and the control board so I wasn't able to look at it when I accessed the motor. I guess I'm going to have to dig for it and check it out. May be making a trip to Rome sooner than I had...
Captdave77, I shut it off as soon as I realized something was wrong. Unfortunately, I'm on the southside of ATL and won't be back up to Rome, where the unit is located, for a few days. If we don't get it figured out by the time I'm back up there, I'll give you a call.
Offroadtek, it has...
Glockspeed31, unfortunately, it's at my girlfriends house in Rome Ga. I was trying to avoid calling anyone out if I could figure it out myself but I'm stumped on this one. I may have to swallow my pride before it's over. :-(
b.a.customkydex, it could very well be a capacitor but I've never seen...
I'll make it short and sweet. Home HVAC evaporator blower motor will not come on and run BUT, it oscillates, in other words, in a jerking motion, turns one way and then the other. It will not start after spinning it by hand but continues to oscillate. Any ideas?
