Look a little bit closer and count again. There are only 8 fish. One fish is dark colored on the belly and lighter colored on the back. I don’t take more than I am allowed.
We have a trip planned for this Summer-we are going to camp and fish at the Sylvania Wilderness Area in the SW corner of the Michigan Upper Peninsula. I cant wait!
These 2 were caught back to back on a spinning rod setup in the Upper Peninsula a couple years ago.
Hopefully i can get one that size to inhale a fly one of these days!
Absolutely!
The Kings on a fly rod are brutal….but well worth it!
I got to watch the Pike dart out of the lily pads and inhale that streamer! It was such a cool sight.
The smallmouth up there are aggressive and crush a perch or craw colored streamer.
I’m going to try mousing for some big...
Im a relatively new fly fisherman, but here are a couple.
Cabelas Bighorn 8wt combo
Echo Boost Salt 9wt rod paired with an 8/10 Ion reel. This setup is primarily for King Salmon, (holy crap, what a workout!) but I tend to cast streamers with both setups at inland lakes and the Au Sable...

Echo Boost Salt, 9’ rod paired with an...
I’m trying to get strip booked on Lake St Clair for next month. This is one of my dream trips also!
I’d like to fish for giant Goliath Grouper, tarpon on a fly, tuna, Alaska salmon, Grayling, halibut, white Sturgeon to name a few.
17.5” long Largemouth from West Londo Lake in MI
My Daughter below with a Northern Pike that crushed a buzzbait, then put on a nice aerial display for us.
West Londo Lake Michigan….my Son’s personal best largemouth. They don’t come along very often in this size up here. We didn’t weigh it, he released it after a couple pictures.
A few days later he tied into this one below:
Been a while since I’ve visited this thread….. here’s my first Smallmouth Bass caught on a fly. It fell for a perch-colored streamer.
Au Sable River, near Oscoda, Michigan.
