You are correct. We produce about 1/3. China produces about 1/4. Brazil produces about 10%, with the rest of world making the last 1/3 or so. China consumes more than it makes, so they buy most of Brazil and our excess.
Not much. Major commodity cycle I think. Inflation, more corn use, Brazil is having a terrible season, Midwest is dry, shrinking stores, etc. It did the same thing in 2012-16, then supply caught up. Then demand slowly grew, no one sees it coming until the cupboards are empty.
I had a case of 7.62x39 inside my front door through a house fire. Besides it being rust-welded together, it all went bang. I actually hosed it off two days after and dried it out on a towel in the sun.
