    When I take apart a bushing 1911 I remove bushing, recoil spring, and spring cap. Then remove slide, and remove guide rod through the back.

    Why does he need to take apart the guide rod anyway?? If it causes issues I'd take it out and put a one piece in.

    Buy this, fit it or have someone else fit it. Be happy. EGW beavertails come oversized. You will have to most likely sand down the sides to let it fit into the frame. I fitted one of the JEM grip safeties to my STI and I love it. If you aren't sure about the radius cut ask EGW, they will help...
