Try a propane torch-heat around the sight base slowly heating it up and giving the sight a nice whack with your drift punch at intervals while heating.
1. If your wanting the broken screws mended and the sight put back on.
2. A standard 1911 front sight staked in and a rear dove tail sight installed
3. Milled rear for a low mount Bomar style sight or low mount Novak and the front sight blade dove tailed milled.

Old thread, and I'm sincerely sorry I did not respond and for any others considering hot blue finishes, the rust is part of the process. Bluing is actually a blacking of metal through a controlled rusting process.
The rust simply wipes off leaving the beautiful "blue" or better "black" oxide...
No big deal just money.
