I had Morgan tig the brake onto the FSB, not the barrel.
I had to punch the pins out, but a rubber/leather hammer knocked the FSB right off. It was waaaayyyy easier than I thought it would be.
It's likely a partially obstructed gas port...did you try to stick a pipe cleaner or wire or some **** down in the gas block through to the barrel? See if it's plugged. There should be enough gas though...
Take some FINE grit valve grinding compound, slather it all on the rails, ejector rail and bolt carrier where the parts meet up. Work the action 10-15 times and clean it up with carb cleaner. Oil it with some light oil and shoot it...see if it helps
You have a commercial diameter tube. Welcome to my world lately...lol
if you find a good deal on a milspec tube let me know...I need one to complete a project I'm working on...
CAn't really tell from the pics...looks like the rivets are lined up..so it should be ok.. if the locking lugs are non-existent...then it IS in backwards!
If it's hanging on the bullet guide, I'd take it straight back to whoever did the work.
How much force does it take on the carrier to close the action?
hell, I'd take some lapping compound and put it all over the bolt lugs...sit and watch tv and work that bad boy into smoothness...then you'd have a super tight bolt lock up...
but that's just me...
Taking it out to the 100 yd range this weekend. New job hasn't taken off yet... Let me know if you want to give up those AK's....I'll give you 20 dollars more than what you paid. LOL!!!!!!
Hey Morgan.
It's normal for them to be loose in the carrier. I would just check where it's pinned in, and if that looks sturdy, it should be good to go. Just a little wobble is ok...maybe 1/4 inch.
Sounds like a mag height problem. The mag could be up too far in the back (near the mag catch), causing it to strip more than one round. Adding some metal to the bottom of the selector stop where the mag hits should help.
It's hard to tell without seeing it though.
