    Got my first Mosin, a 1945 M44 today. Went to disassemble it, and the barrel bands were pretty stiff. Had to put a decent amount of force on to the front retainer, which ended up snapping in two. Anyone have a spare one laying around I could purchase?

    I have an H&r Pardner Protector pump, which has an 18.5 straight barrel, no choke whatsoever. I'm wondering if there's a brand of choke which has shallow, yet reliable enough threading that I could tap the barrel, and install, and whether or not it would be a good idea? Thanks
